[clean up]
a rant on community care and airport security
At gate Two hours early Still perturbed Pissed Annoyed frustrated By the people who empty their bins In the security line Then Just Leave them there The very same people who Grumble through security Roll their eyes Huff and puff “why is this so slow” Then just Grab their things Leave the bin hold up The already slow Backed up Security line Expecting someone to clean up after them And then wait for the rest of their bins to come through Like why Why do people do this? Do you have any thoughts on this? I would really love some perspective To replace thisssss Flickering rage “I don’t know what to do in all of this terror in the world” Me neither I feel it often But what if the answer is so simply in front of us Awaiting for us to open our eyes And be right here Right now .. Help a stranger lift their suitcase Put your own bin away Grab an empty one if you see it and put it on the stack Use the pronouns someone has communicated Hold the door a second longer as you exit the subway ‘Clean up your side of the street’ Take in the multitude of Universes existing around you Have curiosity and wonder for them Breathe in Recognize that their living fully doesn’t diminish yours superheroes don’t have to come in capes In fact We don’t even have to be super Perfect Super human What if We just decided to be humans Fully Embracing our multitudes and in kind That of our neighbors I can’t help but think: These are the little moments that count When we say ‘take care of eachother’ When we say ‘be the change you wish to see in the world’ When we say ‘be a good neighbor’ or ‘love thy neighbor as thyself’ Woah, is that it? Do we live in an epidemic of self hatred? ah …interesting I’ll have to mull that one over for a bit, you see Perhaps I’m blowing it out of proportion As I am wont to do Really, Amaia? Airport bins to community care, justice? Human existence? What a jump Stop making mountains out of molehills, Arana But what if I’m not? What if my outrage Frustration annoyed-ness is warranted What if We’re flailing Failing to treat the symptoms To avoid the rot at the root In every way Therefore living in a world when the most basic acts of mindfulness Awareness Kindness Are blown off For self acceleration Even in the airport security line… huhhhh I don’t know All I know Is it doesn’t take much To show up To help out In the connective tissue moments where we all come into contact with each other Where our Universes overlap for brief moments of time Just before it’s time To fly.
